A Delegation from JICA Visits the New Technological University of Cairo to Discuss Scientific Collaboration

On Sunday, June 4, 2023, a delegation from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) visited the New Technological University of Cairo. The delegation was by Professor Dr. Mahmoud El-Sheikh, the university’s president, and Professor Dr. Tarek Abdelmalak Mikhail, the dean of the Faculty of Industry and Energy Technology at the university.

The purpose of the visit was to explore avenues for cooperation between the two parties, to learn about the latest developments at the New Technological University of Cairo in terms of academics, the educational system, and training at the university. Additionally, the delegation aimed to understand the success and development of the experience of Egyptian technological universities, with the New Technological University of Cairo being the first of its kind.

 

The delegation included Mr. Kato, the head of JICA’s office in Egypt, Mr. Yazaki, the deputy head of the office, Ms. Masuda standing for the Japanese JICA Foundation, Ms. Dina Karam, the head of JICA programs in Egypt. The delegation also included representatives from JICA Tokyo: Mr. Iwasaki, Professor Ouchi, Mr. Takahashi. Dr. Mohamed Abdel Rahman, being the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, accompanied the delegation during their visit.

 

The delegation inspected the workshops and laboratories of the university, which are part of the university’s strategy for developing technological education techniques and mechanisms. These facilities encompass the latest devices and technologies in various areas of technological education provided by the university in its different academic programs.

In conclusion, the delegation expressed appreciation for the academic and technological presence of the New Technological University of Cairo, commending the success of the experiment in changing the traditional higher education in Egypt.
