Professor Dr. Tarek Abdelmalak, the President of the New Cairo Technological University, visited the Faculty of Physical Therapy at the University of Cairo on Wednesday, October 11, 2023. During the visit, he was received by Dr. Amal Youssef, the Dean of the Faculty of Physical Therapy at Cairo University. The visit included discussions on collaboration between the two universities, the New Cairo Technological University and Cairo University, represented by the Faculty of Physical Therapy, in the field of prosthetics and orthotic devices, support for practical training for university students, faculty exchange, and the discussion of signing a memorandum of understanding between the two parties.
It is worth mentioning that the New Cairo Technological University is the first Egyptian technological university to establish a specialized study program in prosthetics and orthotic devices. The university has formed several partnerships in this field, both locally and internationally, including partnerships with the University of Strathclyde in the UK, the General Authority for Hospitals and Educational Institutes, the Center for Physical and Rehabilitative Medicine and Rheumatism Treatment in Al-Agouza, affiliated with the Armed Forces, and others.
Accompanying the university president during the visit were Dr. Menerva Eskander, the coordinator of the prosthetics and orthotic devices program at the university, along with Dr. Yasmin Essam and Dr. Mohamed Medhat, both instructors in the program.
