President of New Cairo Technological University Welcomes Secretary-General of the Silk Road Countries Association and Consulting Companies

The President of the New Cairo Technological University welcomed Ms. Jean Dong, the Secretary-General of the Silk Road Countries Association and Consulting Companies, on Sunday, October 22, 2023. This visit is part of the continuous communication between the New Cairo Technological University and international entities in various modern technological sectors.

The visit focused on discussing potential collaboration between the Egyptian and Chinese sides in the fields of railways and modern roads. Additionally, the visit included discussions on the objectives of the project, and how to use it to address the significant financing gaps in order to achieve the sustainable development goals in particular. The discussions also covered the opening of infrastructure investments in the developing countries.

Furthermore, the visit explored the utilization of green principles in the project for environmentally friendly practices, recognizing that countries today need not only physical roads and bridges to connect people and markets but also a clean and eco-friendly future.

It is worth mentioning that the project is officially known as the “Belt and Road Initiative”, a Chinese initiative established on the remnants of the ancient Silk Road. The initiative aims to connect China to the world by investing billions of dollars in infrastructure along the Silk Road, linking it to the European continent. This initiative represents the largest infrastructure project in human history, including the construction of facilities, roads, railways, and industrial zones.

The new road, a massive Chinese project involving 123 countries, represents a giant initiative through which China aims to expedite the delivery of its products to global markets, including Asia, Europe, Africa, South America, and Central America.
