For the first time, the New Cairo Technological University manufactures the first turbine blade for wind energy generation in cooperation with Ain Shams University

Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Tarek Abdelmalak, President of the New Cairo Technological University, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Walid El-Khattam, Dean of the Faculty of Industry and Energy Technology, as part of the practical training process for university students, a team of third-year students in the New and Renewable Energy Program, specializing in wind energy, supervised by Assoc. Prof. Abdullah Abdelhay, the college’s vice dean for training affairs, executed the first manufacturing process within the university in collaboration with engineering students from Ain Shams University.

This collaboration was a realization of the protocol between the New Cairo Technological University and Ain Shams University, where the two teams manufactured the first turbine blade for wind energy generation using fibrous materials with the assistance of Engineer Sara Naeem and Engineer Saif Mohamed, both teaching assistants in the New and Renewable Energy Program at the NCT university. This marks an unprecedented step within the university’s practical training for students to include actual manufacturing process.

In this context, the New Cairo Technological University extends its sincere thanks and appreciation to Prof. Dr. Adel El-Sabbagh, supervisor of the ASU-Wind team at the Faculty of Engineering and Director of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center at Ain Shams University, and to Engineer Youssef Mahrous, a researcher at the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University, for their efforts and support to the university students, working to overcome obstacles and assist our students in completing the manufacturing task.

Prof. Dr. Tarek Abdelmalak, the university president, emphasized that the New Cairo Technological University is highly committed to providing practical training for its students with the best available resources, to support creative students, especially innovators from the New Cairo Technological University, as the university hosts young innovators who seek to implement numerous ideas for projects that serve the Egyptian society and compete globally. This belief stems from the effective role resulting from supporting student ideas and scientific projects that contribute to the sustainable development of society in line with the objectives of Egypt’s Vision 2030.

The turbine blade, a component of the turbine, converts wind energy into curved motion, then either supplies electric generator or directly operates machines, extracting kinetic energy from the wind to generate electricity.
