President of New Cairo Technological University Receives the Secretary-General of the Ayn El-Beeah Association.

As part of the efforts undertaken by New Cairo Technological University in collaboration with civil society organizations to raise awareness about the Egyptian role in climate change issues, as well as defining the issue itself, its impacts, risks, and mechanisms to address it, Prof. Dr. Tarek Abdelmalak, the university president, and Prof. Dr. Walid Al-Khattam, the dean of the Faculty of Industry and Energy Technology, received Dr. Rania Abu Nema, the Secretary-General of the Ayn El-Beeah Association today, Sunday, February 4th, 2024. The meeting aimed to discuss avenues of cooperation in environmental conservation, mitigating climate change, and promoting green transition to achieve sustainable development, within the framework of the national dialogue on climate change initiated by the Ayn El-Beeah Association in several Egyptian universities.

Dr. Rania Abu Nema presented an overview of the association’s activities and potential areas of collaboration between the association and the university, based on Egypt’s issuance of the National Climate Change Strategy 2050. This strategy constitutes a crucial step in supporting the sustainable development goals, including Egypt’s Vision 2030. She emphasized that the issuance of this strategy reflects Egypt’s concern for climate change issues and its role in mitigating and adapting to the impacts of global climate change.

Prof. Dr. Abdelmalek affirmed that Egypt’s efforts in the climate change dossier underscore the state’s commitment to mitigating and adapting to the effects of climate change. This commitment is demonstrated through various efforts at different levels and the legislative policies Egypt has implemented gradually and systematically over periods of time.

The Environment Eye Society is one of Egypt ‘ s environmental and sustainable development associations under the Ministry of Social Solidarity, which aims to raise awareness of environmental and climate change issues and sustainable development goals through an integrated strategy.
