NCTU Opens the Equal Opportunities and Anti-Violence Against Women Unit
New Cairo Technological University inaugurated the Equal Opportunities and Anti-Violence Against Women Unit under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Tarek Abdel Malak, President of the University, and Prof. Dr. Walid Elkhatam, Dean of the Faculty of Industrial Technology and Energy. The opening represents an important step in strengthening women’s rights and integrating gender equality issues within the university’s strategy and Egypt Vision 2030.
Supporting Women's Rights and Empowerment
The unit operates under the supervision of Dr. Sabreen Abu Shosha, Head of the Unit, and in cooperation with the National Council for Women, which contributes actively to establishing Equal Opportunities and Anti-Violence Against Women Units in Egyptian universities. This initiative reflects the university’s commitment to empowering women and promoting equality within the academic community.
Raising Awareness and Promoting a Safe University Environment
Prof. Dr. Tarek Abdel Malak emphasized that the unit aims to raise awareness about women’s issues and empower women within the educational and social framework of the university. The unit will work on spreading awareness among students, combating extremist ideas, and addressing violence against women while organizing student activities in partnership with the National Council for Women.

The opening ceremony was attended by several faculty members and university representatives including Dr. Rasha El-Satouhi, Lecturer in the IT Department and Director of Digital Transformation, and Dr. Aya Taha from the IT Department. The event was also attended by Dr. Ahmed Nagah, Head of the Energy Department, Eng. Sara Helal, Eng. Menna Ayman, Ranaa Amin, Director General of Public Relations and Media, Yasmine Youssef, Director of Public Relations, and Dr. Mariana Mahfouz, Director of the Media Production Unit. The event highlighted the university’s commitment to creating a safe academic environment that encourages equality, creativity, and success for all members of the university community.
