New Cairo Technological University Participates in the “Sakina” Forum to Enhance Female Students’ Awareness of Family Issues and Building a Stable Married Life
The activities of the “Sakina” Forum were launched under the slogan: “Women’s Dignity Between Religious Understanding and Social Reality.” The forum was held under the generous patronage of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Central Administration for Civic Education – General Administration for Civic Education and Youth Cadre Qualification), and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (General Administration for Student Welfare – Department of Trips, Camps, and Training). It was organized in cooperation with the Tahya Misr Youth Union through the national initiative “Raedat Misr,” and hosted by the Higher Institute of Social Work in Cairo.
The forum witnessed distinguished participation from female students of New Cairo Technological University, who actively took part among other technological universities. This participation came under the supervision and attention of the university administration, led by Dr. Tarek Abdel Malak, President of the University; Dr. Walid El Khatam, Dean of the Faculty of Industry and Energy Technology; and Dr. Mohamed Fawzi El Soudah, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences, affirming the university’s full support for students’ engagement in purposeful awareness activities.
The forum was also attended by the ambassadors of the “Sakina” campaign, actor Yasser Farag and actress Dr. Samah El Saeed, in support of the awareness message carried by the event.
The organization of the forum comes within the framework of national efforts aimed at raising awareness among female students who are about to get married regarding family-related issues, correcting misconceptions, and presenting a balanced vision that combines religion, law, and psychology. This contributes to building stable, conscious families capable of addressing societal challenges.
The forum commenced with welcoming speeches delivered by Dr. Abdelhakim Ahmed Abdelhadi, Dean of the Higher Institute of Social Work in Cairo; Mohamed El Mehy, Director of the Trips and Camps Department at the Ministry of Higher Education; Mostafa Qatamesh, Chairman of the Tahya Misr Youth Union; Hoda Mostafa, Head of the national initiative “Raedat Misr”; and Om Kolthoum Shalash, representative of the National Council for Women in Cairo. All speakers emphasized the importance of cooperation among institutions to support women’s issues and enhance societal awareness.
The event included the premiere screening of the short awareness film “His Name Was My Beloved,” which discusses the importance of girls’ awareness during the pre-marriage stage. This was followed by an extensive panel discussion moderated by Dr. Samah El Saeed, with the participation of a distinguished group of specialists, including Dr. Heba Kotb, Ms. Nehad Abou El Komsan, preacher Sahar Raouf from the “Egyptian Spirit” initiative, and Dr. Walaa Medhat Nemis, a mental health consultant.
The forum concluded by affirming that “Sakina” is not merely an awareness event, but an integrated societal message aimed at building a generation capable of establishing families founded on dignity, awareness, and responsibility, thereby strengthening the stability and resilience of society.
