About the program

The development in science has led to the emergence of what can replace and support parts of the body's organs. In addition to, compensation for missing parts or members and supports the performance of incomplete members or performance, and this program is the first Bachelor's program in prosthetics and orthotics in Egypt and the Middle East and Africa after Jordan. The idea of artificial limbs began after World War II, when wood was the first material used to manufacture limbs and orthotics. Then some industrialized countries developed and manufactured it from plastic instead of wood, these limbs were later taken by progress in terms of formal and mechanical aspects, and now they are manufactured. The prosthetics are made of special materials that are not rustproof, and several elements such as alloys are included in their composition aluminum and titanium, in addition to plastic and rubber, and the computer has become used in the manufacture of artificial limbs and assistive devices, or what it is called in the English language in the scientific term orthotics and prosthetics. This field aims to treat people who have lost one of their body parts or limbs as a result due to accidents or injury to diseases, this specialization is considered rehabilitative as it qualifies patients to practice their lives. It seeks to improve their lives and help them adapt to their situation to make them normal people and producers in society. While orthodontic devices mean devices that control movement, directing it, limiting it, or stopping it, and aiming at design orthotic devices to help the patient move or straighten fractures after recovery and facilitate movement with the aim of reducing this feeling of pain, as well as helping the weak muscles in the body to do work routines that require movement.

Meeting the needs of the local, regional and international labor market of qualified technologists in the field of equipment technology calendar and industrial parties to achieve a competitive advantage for the technological graduates of the program within the framework of high professional ethics.

Program Objects

The program aims to prepare a first technician and technology specialist in prosthetics and orthotics

To provide a distinguished service for amputees and ensuring their adequate rehabilitation and reintegration into the labor market where the patient turns from a burden on the economy to a productive individual

To stop the bleeding of resources that were spent in this field without a real return on the patient and society

To contribute to Egypt's restoration of its leading role in the region in medical tourism, as amputees are in the Middle East region is steadily increasing as a result of wars, tensions and terrorism

To establish the first bachelor’s program in prosthetics and orthotics which is considered a first step to develop this field. It is followed by other steps, the most important of which is the establishment of specialized colleges to graduate qualified pioneers for the labor market, which is reflected to develop the field as a whole

The presence of a university graduate specialized and trained at the highest level is an essential factor in the development of the components industry parties and leads to the gradual dispensation of importing those components (and limiting them only to high components technology) and providing hard currency in implementation of the state’s policies in capacity building the success of this experience is enough to repeat it, as the graduate is considered one of the rare specialties required in the labor market. It is expected that the demand for graduates from neighboring countries will increase

The university can easily market this type of study and receive or interact with a specific percentage of international students. Arab and African countries with appropriate expenses that lead to maximizing resources and covering a large part of the expenses themselves without additional burdens on the state

Industrial partner and financial capabilities

Industrial Partner:
A cooperation protocol was signed on Thursday, 6/8/ 2020 between New Cairo Technological University and Orthomedics for joint cooperation in this program
Financial possibilities:
A university classroom will be allocated for approximately 50 students for each group of the program as a first stage of Theatrical study and all practical exercises and experiments will be held at Arthemedex Company , which is located on an area of \u200b\u200b their a floor of more than 1,100 square meters and four floors, as shown in the attached figure, and it is located in the industrial area in New Cairo, based on the cooperation protocol signed with the company.
